Anti-alcohol tablets disulfiram wzf, or alcohol implants

Tablets for alcoholics – what is an implant?

Research shows that Poles drink more alcohol each year and spend increasingly substantial sums on it. In 2017-2019, this amount was 103 billion zloty. The average Pole spends as much as 964 zloty annually on alcoholic beverages. It can be expected that in the case of alcoholics, the budget increases. To interrupt this, it is necessary to begin treatment for alcohol disease. If the patient can safely achieve sobriety without experiencing symptoms of withdrawal syndrome (otherwise alcohol detox helps), there is a possibility of using an anti-alcohol tablet, that is, an alcohol implant. Inside the capsule is Disulfiram, a drug that works only when it comes into contact with alcohol in the body. Otherwise, this form of tablet for alcoholics is not felt and can practically be forgotten. It is small, and the doctor places it under the skin deep enough that a person does not feel its presence. The scar is also practically unnoticeable and is located in a place invisible to others (buttock area or under the shoulder blade). It works for 8 to 12 months. When the patient wants to continue treatment with an anti-alcohol tablet in the form of an alcohol implant, they can sign up again for the esperal implantation procedure. See: What is disulfiram?

Esperal implantation – what does it involve?

The esperal implantation procedure using an anti-alcohol tablet (alcohol implant) is performed after applying local anesthesia. It lasts 0.5 hours. The implant with disulfiram is implanted near the buttock or shoulder blade. Stitches, in the case of non-dissolvable threads, are removed after 7-10 days, as this is how long the skin healing process takes after esperal implantation. Subsequent visits are not required. When the procedure ends, there are no contraindications for driving a car, performing physical work, and participating in situations that require concentration or making important decisions. See: What does the esperal implantation procedure look like? The most important information about esperal implantation:
  • requires 30 minutes,
  • local anesthesia,
  • no pain,
  • no recovery period,
  • zero additional visits (only stitch removal),
  • does not hinder daily activities (even right after the procedure),
  • possible effect encourages abstinence.
The tablet for alcoholics is placed permanently. The Disulfiram contained in it is released only when a person drinks alcohol. Each person may react differently to the medication, which is why patients choose sobriety. Sometimes symptoms may not be felt, but over time this results in deterioration of the condition of internal organs.

Anti-alcohol tablets – what comes after them?

Tablets for alcoholics in the form of alcohol implants help addicted people with what is most difficult for them, namely sobriety. Esperal implantation, however, does not ensure eternal abstinence. The desire to drink does not disappear so easily. Therefore, after alcohol implantation, doctors recommend not ending the treatment of alcohol disease there but continuing it with the help of a therapist. A psychologist allows you to understand the reason for addiction, how to deal with it, and what to do in moments of weakness. Alcoholism is a constant struggle with oneself, but it is worth undertaking at any moment.
